Who We Are and What We Do
We are thrilled to announce our new name: Uplift Community Alliance! While our name has changed, our commitment to uplifting the lives of children and adults in our community through hands-on philanthropic programs remains stronger than ever. We continue to provide new clothing to 5,000 elementary school children, urgent dental treatment to children in need, layettes for new mothers and infants, care kits for those victimized by sexual violence, college scholarships to students with financial need, and so much more. We remain dedicated to fully focusing our financial and volunteer efforts directly on the local community we have been serving for 50+ years.
Our History
Our volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization began helping the Salt Lake community in 1974 and officially organized as Assistance League of Salt Lake City, a chapter of National Assistance League, in 1977. In May 2025, we changed our name to Uplift Community Alliance to more accurately reflect our mission and community impact.
Since our inception, we have helped tens of thousands of individuals, children and families in our community and have grown into a financially stable, impactful force for good. Powered by our volunteer members, we fund, staff, develop and assess a diverse philanthropic outreach. Our programs are regularly evaluated and fine-tuned to respond to changing community needs, ensuring the highest benefit for those we serve. Uplift Community Alliance membership is made up of an impressive group of adults and teen volunteers who manage all aspects of our organization from leadership to philanthropic programs to staffing our popular Uplift Thrift shop!
