Millcreek Mayor Cheri Jackson Visits Uplift Community Alliance

Newly elected Mayor Cheri Jackson visited the Uplift Community Alliance program offices on Wednesday, January 28, where she met with Carrie Drown and Merilynn Kessi for an in-depth look at the heart of our mission in action.

During her visit, Mayor Jackson was introduced to several of our hands-on programs that directly serve children, women, and families in our community. She examined examples of Uplift School Kids clothing bags prepared for both boys and girls, a tenderly assembled Baby Bundles layette, and a thoughtfully curated Comfort Kit provided to victims of assault. Each item tells a story of dignity, compassion, and care.

The timing of her visit was especially meaningful. Our incredible Uplift Teens had just completed assembling 800 emergency weekend food kits, stacked and ready for delivery to local schools. Seeing the scale of that effort firsthand offered a powerful visual reminder of what coordinated volunteer service can accomplish.

Mayor Jackson shared that she was both surprised and deeply impressed as she learned about the full scope of our ten philanthropic programs and the broad impact they have across all ages in our community. From young children preparing for school to families navigating hardship, she recognized the far-reaching difference our members make.

The visit continued with a tour of Uplift Thrift, where the Mayor mentioned she is already a regular shopper and admirer of our beautiful store. She especially appreciated the opportunity to go “behind the scenes” in the garage intake area and marking room, where she met and spoke with our dedicated volunteers who keep the shop running so seamlessly.

Before departing, Mayor Jackson asked us to share her sincere appreciation for the meaningful work our members do every day. We are grateful for her visit and her interest in our mission.

We congratulate Mayor Cheri Jackson as she continues her work on behalf of Millcreek City, and we look forward to partnering in service to our community for years to come.
